Can anyone help me find an alternative song from 2006?

There is an alternative song I'm looking for that I heard a lot in 2006, I don't remember the band, and I don't remember the song name, all I barely remember is a lyric, and I'm pretty sure it isn't even right, but it's something along the lines of "I'm closer to the edge now" or something along the lines of being close to the edge; And then in the next line it talks about a girl standing behind him looking at him or something. I don't really know. It's not from Linkin Park or 30 Seconds to Mars, I already checked. I remember the band sounded kind of like Breaking Benjamin and Skillet. Thanks in advance!
