Individuals who have demonstrated religious tolerance?

LOL Gandhi is hardly an example of "bringing religious traditions together". He was a Hindu nationalist first and foremost. While Ghandhi opposed the partition of India, his leadership directly led to that result: he instituted a Hindu oriented government, and marginalized the Muslim population. This resulted in one of the largest humanitarian catastrophes of the twentieth century, and a regional conflict that lives on to this day in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Northern India. He was the deluded figurehead of a revolution. He preached nonviolence, but the revolution was largely violent.
